Many believe, our American way of life, and what, we, traditionally, perceived and believed, it stood – for, and represented, is, at the very least, potentially, under – attack! We witness some, manipulate the Constitution, and what, others feel, the Founding Fathers, felt, most important, to protect, under – siege, because of a combination of factors, etc! We are a nation, conceived and dedicated, to the proposition, that all men are created equal. Some, for personal/ political reasons, and/ or, self – interest, seem, to want to respect these rights and freedoms, selectively, rather than, in – total! With, that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, what this means, and represents, and why it matters.

1. Right to assemble, but not to be violent, loot, or commit any crime: Whether, one protests, on the political – left, or right, this freedom, must be protected, as stated in our Bill of Rights. Assembling/ protesting, often, makes a significant difference, by bringing concerns, to the public – eye, and mobilizing, behind a basic, American principle! This is not about one’s political agenda, and whether, one agrees (or disagrees), but rather about protecting a basic, right, granted to all Americans! However, this must be a peaceful process, because, when/ if, it deteriorates, to any criminal activities, such as looting, arson, or any sort of violence, etc, it is contrary to preserving and maintaining the best interests of our nation, and its citizens, as well as the public health, well – being, and safety!

2. Freedom of speech, but not to incite – to – riot, or risk public safety: Freedom of speech does not permit one, to scream, Fire, in a theater, nor does it protect, hate – crimes, vitriol, and other, irresponsible rhetoric, especially by individuals, such as public officials! Armed protests, and/ or, inciting others, to misconduct, etc, harm the public safety, and, are irresponsible! On the other hand, we must permit all individuals, whether we agree or disagree, to peacefully, express their views, perspectives, etc!

3. May have the Right to Bear Arms, but, not unlimited: We often see, the gun industry, and the NRA, and those, they convince, claim, the 2nd Amendment, protects, their gun rights! However, the original reason, seemed to be, providing States, with the right to protect themselves, against foreign threats, etc. How could they have envisioned today’s weapons, when the rifles, then, took, nearly two minutes, to reload? We license automobiles, and drivers, but, we have fewer rules, about registering guns, and gun owners, and demanding, proficiency, and safety standards! No one needs assault weapons (for hunting?), nor should any gun owner, refuse to consider, the need to do, everything, possible, to change, our alarming number of deaths, and injuries, from those, bearing arms!

4. Free Press is different from purposely publishing lies, distortions, etc, and representing it, as news: We are all entitled to our own opinions, but not, our own facts! Unfortunately, we continue, some, attacking the free press, when it disagrees with them, while encouraging other media, which is willing, to skew information, to their agenda!

Wake up, America, and protect all American rights, freedoms, and privileges, in a fair, and common sense, manner! We must act sooner, rather than later, or, we will see, a changing nation, and not, for – the – better!
